Its boundaries are the Long Island Expressway to the north, Kissena Boulevard to the west, 73rd Avenue to the south, and 164th Street to the east. Locally, Melbourne Avenue and the Queens College campus’s southern edge form the lived northern line. Downtown Flushing is about two miles north of Pomonok. The name Pomonok is said to mean “land of tribute”, per Bright’s Native American placenames reference and the Encyclopedia of New York City.

- Pomonok Houses, a New York City Housing Authority development between Kissena Boulevard and Parsons Boulevard fronting Jewel Avenue, with 35 buildings of 3, 7, and 8 stories, 2,071 units, on 47.86 acres; construction was completed June 30, 1952. The Pomonok Community Center, run by Queens Community House, and the NYPD PSA 9 housing police station are on the grounds.
