The Neponsit Realty Company purchased the land in January 1910, and the Property Owners Association dates to 1911. Neponsit has no commercial strip: 1910 Neponsit Realty Company deed covenants barred commerce, apartments, and boardinghouses, and the area remains 1–2 story single-family homes. Neponsit is patrolled by the NYPD 100th Precinct (Sector Charlie), whose station house at 92-24 Rockaway Beach Boulevard is in Rockaway Park. There is no public school, no Queens Public Library branch, no FDNY firehouse, and no post office inside Neponsit; those services come from Rockaway Park and Belle Harbor.
