Neighborhood Overview
Queens Village is a mostly residential, middle-class neighborhood in eastern Queens, in Community District 13. It is roughly bounded by Hollis to the west, Cambria Heights to the south, Bellerose and Elmont to the east, and Oakland Gardens to the north. Its ZIP codes are 11427 north of 90th Avenue (the Hollis Hills subsection), 11428 between 90th and 99th Avenues (central Queens Village), and 11429 between 99th and 114th Avenues (Bellaire). Shopping corridors include Braddock Avenue, Hillside Avenue, Hempstead Avenue, Jamaica Avenue, Francis Lewis Boulevard, and Springfield Boulevard. The neighborhood is known for well-maintained Dutch Colonial and Tudor homes from the 1920s–1930s housing boom. Founded as Little Plains in the 1640s, it became Brushville after Thomas Brush’s 1824 blacksmith shop, was renamed Queens by resident vote in 1856, and took its current name when the Long Island Rail Road added “Village” to the station name in 1923 to avoid confusion with Queens County. Its subsections include Bellaire, the largest section, in the west around Jamaica Avenue and 211th Street, and Hollis Hills, an affluent subsection. The 2020 Census population was 54,345.

The Queens Village Long Island Rail Road station is an elevated Main Line station, served primarily by Hempstead Branch trains. The current station building opened September 24, 1924, and was renovated and unveiled October 30, 2013, with new elevators, a repainted building, new signage, and a rehabilitated waiting room. It has two high-level side platforms, each eight cars long, each with an elevator and stairs, in fare zone 3.
